The clients were opening a children's bar in one of the new build islands of Amsterdam. The coffee bar, named Coffee+Kids, is a place for kids and parents; a space with a toy-shop, a coffee bar, a playground and a workshop space for children. A multifunctional space that can allocate different functions and where everyone can feel comfortable.

The retail space was an open space of 100m2, located in the corner of the busiest street in the neighborhood; it has plenty of light and visibility from the street, ideal for a shop.

We decided to divide the space into two, a front part, open to the street with the bar and toy-shop, and a back, more private, area where the workshops, playgroups and birthday parties could take place.

We wanted to create a playful atmosphere and introduce elements that would make this essentially a children's world. Very few design elements are introduced in the design to preserve the shop as flexible as possible. The use of the arch as a geometric form to shape all the added elements is a fun form but on the other hand it gives simplicity and clarity.

The use of color is also very important in the design of the new elements, every furniture piece has a specific color, different on the vertical and the horizontal pane. The color scheme was decided in direct connection with the visual identity of the company. A strong Klein blue and a soft pastel pink, contrasting colors that give it an edge but that are also playful and warm.
